In year 5, Pearl class, we learned about World War One, and decided we would make Scrapbook pages. On it we put documents, pictures and anything relative to our soldier. (Cuthbert Frank Shaw)
We cut out bits and pieces of documents, pictures, medals and poppies and collaged them onto an A4 piece of paper. After we had finished doing the collaging we were taken out of the class group by group and cut out a silhouette of a soldier and poppies. When we had cut them out in the shape that we wanted, we tested out different textures of printing and when we were happy with the texture that we wanted to use on our collage, we printed (with paint) around the edge of the silhouette that we wanted onto the collage.
THE FINISHED RESULT !!

In year 5,in maths, we have been learning about fractions.
At the start of term we were in the learning pit, which is a pit and you move up when you improve, but towards now we have got better!
We now know how to add and subtract with fractions and which fraction is smaller and bigger than others.
Eg:1/18 < 1/2
Year 5 will be making stone decorations to sell at the Christmas Enterprise Fair on Monday 10th December 2018 from 3:20pm – 4:45pm.
These will be available to buy on the day for 20p/30p.
We have the opportunity to take pre-orders which can be personalised, and will come individually gift wrapped. These will be 50p each and will be created by your child (in year 5) as a beautiful gift or memory. You are welcome to pre-order or buy as many as you want, but we do ask for payment with the pre-order sheets by Wednesday 28th November. This will enable us to ensure we have plenty of time to create beautiful stones for you to enjoy year after year.
All profits raised from our sales at the Enterprise Fair will go towards future Year 5 trips and school based activities, so please dig deep and help send us on some amazing adventures for the rest of the school year.
So far this year, Pearl class have been busy working on all sorts of activities to help our learning. Look out for our blog posts, written by class members, explaining some of our favourites!
We have been drafting our blogs, choosing a catchy title and making sure that we explain carefully, as well as selecting and inserting photographs.
We’ve had lots of fun doing the activities – we hope you enjoy reading about them!

In Term Five we responded to the story from the poem The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes. The children enjoyed recreating dramatic scenes from the story. They worked very well collaboratively and were able
then to go on to some good writing
