Dignity and Respect

Why does it matter to be an international school?

At Christ Church, global learning is reflected in the attitudes and values of our pupils and staff, the ethos of the school, the curriculum, and key skills we teach. Planned international learning through cross curricular approaches enable all pupils from EYFS through to Year 6 to gain a greater understanding of local, national and global issues. Our vision, 'Learning to Live Together, Together Living to Learn' reflects our work and our responsibility as citizens of the world.

At Christ Church CE Primary & Nursery Academy we are proud of our diverse community which we call our own ‘mini world’. With our Church links and Christian values (Christianity being a global religion), being an international school runs through our curriculum.

Through the adopted parable of the Lost Sheep, we have a focus on ‘a loving community’. We believe that by giving our pupils the opportunity to also explore the world beyond Christ Church we are helping them to live that vision. By understanding that differences are to be celebrated our pupils get a richer perspective of the world. We focus on the impact of the British Council's global values on their own lives and those of others locally, nationally and internationally, both in the past and present times. Our assembly plan reflects fundamental British values which are woven as part of our curriculum provision and are displayed centrally, Picture News is updated weekly, providing a focus on international issues that are in the news currently, how this relates to British values and United Nations law, as well as biblical links and prayer.

We are a multi-cultural community with over 28 different languages spoken; pupils show great respect for one another and are keen to learn more about the faiths, practices and cultures of their friends. We work tirelessly to engage all families and celebrate our rich and diverse heritage.

Check out the amazing links we are making with our international neighbours. Even at a time of such worldwide uncertainty, we are proud to be able to reach out and connect with others.
