Introduction to Metacognition at Christ Church Academy.
At Christ Church C.E. Primary & Nursery Academy we endeavour to provide an engaging and stimulating curriculum where children feel confident and safe to make mistakes and learn from them, at the same time developing their own understanding of themselves as a learner.
The aims of Metacognition at Christ Church Academy are:
To develop children’s ability to critically analyse how they think
Encourage children to have a high self-awareness and control over their thoughts
Develop appropriate thinking strategies at each stage of a task
At Christ Church CE Primary & Nursery Academy, Metacognition is ingrained within teaching, it is not treated as an additional element. From Nursery and Reception right through to Year 6, language is used and modelled by all adults throughout their daily interactions with children. Aspects of Metacognition permeate through the whole curriculum at Christ Church CE Primary & Nursery Academy. Interactive teaching strategies are used to engage all pupils in order to raise standards.
